Generic Heartgard (STRONGHEART CHEWABLE) prevents heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae for a month after infection.

A single bite from an infected mosquito can introduce new heartworm larvae into your dog's bloodstream and reinfect an unprotected dog. Use STRONGHEART CHEWABLE every month as directed to kill immature heartworms introduced to the dog in the last 30 days, preventing the development of adult heartworms. It is also used for the treatment and control of hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, A. brasiliense, and Uncinaria stenocephala) and roundworms (ascarids - Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina).
